Coke Oven Battery #1

The Coke Oven Battery #1 was built using (3) N Walthers Cornerstone Coke Oven kits. The Coal Bins were modified using Evergreen grooved sheet stock. Details such as railings were from either Plastruct, or Gold Medal Models railings. The Larry car was built from (1) Walthers Cornerstone N Mi-Jack Crane kit and some Evergreen stock. The pusher was built from an N Model Power gantry crane kit, an N Faller Steel Bridge kit, a Walthers HO Bridge Crane kit, Plastruct stock, and Evergreen stock. The Pusher rod end is a Remington replacement shaver head. Micro Engineering code 55 rail was added for the Pusher track, the Larry track and the Coke Guide track. The stack is from a Heljan Slaughterhouse kit.

Crusher and Mixer

Both the Crusher and Mixer structures were built using panel parts from the Walthers Cornerstone N Coke Oven kits. Additional panels with windows were added to the Crusher from (2) Walthers Valley Grower’s Assoc kits. Stairs are from the Coke Oven kits with some Gold Medal Models Safety Caged ladders added as well.

Coke Oven Batteries #3 and #4

The Coke Oven Batteries #3 and #4 will be built using (6) Walthers N Coke Ovens kits. They will be combined so as to have one main coal bunker in the middle serving both batteries. This bunker may be metal but I have toying with the idea of making it concrete which is also prototypical and a little more modern. They will be detailed in a similar manner to batteries #1 and #2.

Coke Loading

The Coke Loading structure was built using a Walthers Cornerstone N Glacial Gravel kit for the main mass. An additional truck loading portion is from the Walthers Cornerstone N New River Mining kit. Some other parts were from the HO version of this kit. The conveyor for this structure is from a Walthers Cornerstone N Western Flood Loader kit.

Store House

The Store Housebuilding was built from a Walthers Cornerstone N Engine Shed kit. The car openings were filled in on both sides with N DPM modular pieces.
