I have just returned from our trip to the UP region of Michigan and
what a beautiful place it was. In addition to the hiking and lighthouse
tours, I visited and documented 3 historic copper mine sites. This trip
was one of those rare instances where I didn't have enough time
nor film to get everything but I believe that I captured most of the
important relics. In addition to the copper mine sites there
was the smelter works, the stamp mill, the dredge, and 2 or 3 other
sites along the river which I did see but didn't take any photos of.
The following photo galleries have been added:

I returned last night from a trip to visit Weirton Steel and shot 155
photographs concentrating on the defunct blast furnaces, the blower house,
the boiler house, the defunct BOF and the mostly demolished open hearth.
I'll be uploading pix to the site in the next week or 2.
As a result modeling will be a bit slow for a while as I'll be
concentrating on cataloging, scanning, and uploading images.
It was an awesome place and the first photo trip of 2008
proved to be a great one. Yayy!

I have upgraded the blog pages in the "model 1:160" section of the site
to make their appearance a little more appropos. Also, the
"model 1:160" page now includes a handy FAQ which is especially useful
for modelers that are new to the steel industry.

clearer as to what is in each gallery section. I have added spaces for several
new buildings as well as taken some new photographs. The sections now
accomodate space for blast furnaces B,C,D,E,F,G,H,J,K.
