I have updated the website to include new menu items up top
which feature custom built HO and N scale structures I
now market and sell. Custom orders based on these or any
other requirements are always welcome.

After suggestions to streamline the model portion of the website
I have completely overhauled the model section which now features
a model building index with construction photos for every building
in the mill. At this time only one link is in the index. I will
probably apply this model to the photo galleries as well.

Since I have decided to take a mild hiatus from building my
own steel mill model I have begun taking commissions to do
custom work for others. The first steel mill related of which
is a Coke Larry and Pusher in N scale. Some more items are also
in the works for the near future. So if you are interested in
potentially having something built you can email me at
zahkunst@hotmail.com to discuss.
Images of completed works will be posted in the journal

I also build anything else for ebaY as well

For all you HO scale STEEL modelers out there Trix Germany
has announced their new line of ALL NEW Coking Plant kits.
The detail is immense and they appear to be based on the
prototype Cokeplant Hansa. These release coincide with Trix's
Blast Furnace kits last year and Walthers new STEEL stuff
this year. Wow big year for HO and STEEL.

I have just returned from our trip to the UP region of Michigan and
what a beautiful place it was. In addition to the hiking and lighthouse
tours, I visited and documented 3 historic copper mine sites. This trip
was one of those rare instances where I didn't have enough time
nor film to get everything but I believe that I captured most of the
important relics. In addition to the copper mine sites there
was the smelter works, the stamp mill, the dredge, and 2 or 3 other
sites along the river which I did see but didn't take any photos of.
The following photo galleries have been added:

I returned last night from a trip to visit Weirton Steel and shot 155
photographs concentrating on the defunct blast furnaces, the blower house,
the boiler house, the defunct BOF and the mostly demolished open hearth.
I'll be uploading pix to the site in the next week or 2.
As a result modeling will be a bit slow for a while as I'll be
concentrating on cataloging, scanning, and uploading images.
It was an awesome place and the first photo trip of 2008
proved to be a great one. Yayy!
